Heat Wave in the US
With the United States experiencing a heat wave, it is a good time to remind clients of heat related issues. There are many initiatives to remind owners to never leave dogs in a car when it is hot, but it bears repeating because we still see deaths in pets from this occurring. There have been news reports about dogs suffering heatstroke when they have been taken hiking. Another good reminder is hot pavement; if it is too hot for your own feet, it is too hot for pets to walk on pavement. We can also help owners by trying to schedule overweight pets or brachycephalic breeds for appointments in the morning when it is cooler out.

We hope everyone stays safe during this heat wave and we help our clients to keep their pets safe!
