Wildfire Rescue
Thousands of people in the Fort McMurray area in Alberta, Canada have been impacted by the wildfires they have been battling. The rescue effort includes hundreds of animals that have been displaced. Several humane societies in Canada are working together to house and provide medical attention to these animals. VSPN member Connie Varnhagen and VSPN Moderator Debbie Hembroff are just two individuals that have given countless hours to this effort. We know that there are many more of our members volunteering, and we commend each and every one of you. So far, 612 animals have been checked in and health checked, 50 have been reunited with their owners, and 67 more are scheduled for reunions. This is GREAT news! For updates or to see how to help, please visit the Alberta SPCA website.
